"Pieces do not attack pieces of the same color (so, any cell that is occupied by a piece is attacked by 0 pieces)."

Does it count when a piece attacks a piece of the OPPOSITE color? The first rule talks specifically only about pieces of the same color but the note in parenthesis implies the color does not matter.
